North Pole Man Dies when Bulldozer Sinks in Lake
An Alaska man helping build a remote camp in support of a massive dam project on the Susitna River is dead after his bulldozer went into an icy alpine lake in the Talkeetna Mountains.
Overall, Invasive Species' Away-field Advantage Weaker Than Thought
For decades, ecologists have assumed the worst invasive species---such as brown tree snakes and kudzu---have an "away-field advantage." They succeed because they do better in their new territories than they do at home. A new study led by the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center reveals that this fundamental assumption is not nearly as common as people might think.
Honeybees Used in Croatia to Locate Mines
Mirjana Filipovic is still haunted by the land mine blast that killed her boyfriend and blew off her left leg while on a fishing trip nearly a decade ago. It happened in a field that was supposedly de-mined.
Jose Molina from Los Indios, Texas caught this 25" redfish during the sunset hours out of the Lower Laguna Madre while drifting near the spoil banks casting out Saltwater Assasins on a weedless hook.

Tuesday Tip: Thermocline and Crappie During summer, the crappie there stage in the deep, cool thermocline of these creeks and then leave to go feeding on shad which is their number one prey item. Anglers should also be mindful that when temperatures are going into summer crappie will migrate out of the creeks onto the main lake. This calls for a change in tactics. Main lake points and deeper areas where creeks enter the main body of the lake are now the important areas to fish.

Knife-wielding Thug Takes a Bullet to the Butt, and Now Back to Prison
A San Antonio criminal incarcerated for 10 years over a 1991 Super Bowl party slaying and a 1992 attempted murder is headed back to prison --- this time for an incident last year in which he was shot in the butt while holding a knife to a woman's throat.
