2 firsts for Joe Barbier’s daughter, Bonnie Barbier (15), her first fish caught from a kayak and her first bull drum. This big ugly measured out at 35 inches. Caught March 2011 in the Galveston Ship Channel at Apffel Park.
My father David Rozacky (left) and I Trent Rozacky (right) of Taylor, just recently caught this 70 pound yellow cat on a trot line while fishing Lake Granger. It is the largest catfish we have ever caught to date. The fish measured 4 feet long and almost 3 feet around.
Cassidy Myers (left), 11 years old, with her first deer, a 7.5-yr-old doe. Older sister Lauren (right), 13 years old, with her second deer, a 6.5-yr-old doe. Deer taken 10 minutes apart while hunting with dad (me behind the camera) on family lease between Fredericksburg and Boerne (Sisterdale area), TX. Two proud girls and an even prouder daddy! Little brother Caleb, 8, was there also but didn’t want in the picture since he didn’t have a deer! –Gavin L. Myers
Shooting around the truck’s mirror at dusk while driving back to Cantwell, Alaska, from fishing in the Tangle Lakes region, I managed to catch the last of a trio of moose crossing the road in front of me. I did get shots of the first two, but this big cow seems to be posing for me. –Robert Lamb via National Geographic “Your Shot”
Jay Wark caught this black drum in San Antonio Bay in Seadrift TX. Crank bait was used fishing mud boils for Reds. It took about 45 minutes to land, had to crank up motor to prevent getting spooled. Great fun, had to be landed by hand by C. Church, net was to small.
