I was sitting around the other day, not really paying attention to the television, and heard an advertisement for a new show about people who are preparing for the end of the world. One of the people on the show said something to the affect of “we have one gun for everyone in the house.” My first thought was, “just one per person?” Really, that seems to me to be a little under gunned.
Speaking of the end of the world, I saw these while walking through Academy the other day. Everyone needs Zombie ammo.
What I really went into Academy for…well…I didn’t really go into there for anything specific, I just like to look around. However, I walked out with some .223 ammunition, ear plugs, and a few peel and stick targets. If you haven’t used these before I highly recommend grabbing some and keeping them in your shooting bag. At around $5 a pack they are an affordable way to turn any flat surface into a target (with the proper backstop to stop bullets). My kids even took an old plastic cup, slapped a few dots on it, and turned it into a rolling BB gun target.
They’ll probably even stand up to Zombie whacking bullets too.

Paul, Please inform your readers of something that most will never think about.
If you ever have to use your [one] weapon.. and police show up to investigate the shooting… they will most likely take your [one and only] weapon and means of self defense as ‘evidence’ and keep it until after 1. the D.A. decides not to prosecute you or 2. until after your trial for murder or manslaughter. In either case, you will be at home [possibly out on bond] without a weapon to defend ourself unless you have back-ups.
If I drop some low-life in his tracks, I sure don’t want to be at home waiting on his highly up-set friends or family to pay me a vist.. while I’m unarmed and can’t defend myself or my family. That is why you always need to have back-ups available.
