Keep your eyes on your boat with iZon, and stop that thief from getting away with your boat.

There are plenty of alarms and security gadgets out there, but the niftiest I’ve come across lately is a new item called the iZon, from Stem Innovation. This little gadget is slightly taller than a “D” cell battery, and can be mounted just about anywhere. It’s video camera has a built-in motion sensor, so it sits on your boat, garage, or wherever, ’sleeping’ until something triggers it. Then the camera starts recording, and it streams both video and audio (via WiFi) to your private YouTube account. The video is encrypted, so no one will be able to watch it but you. Or, if you want to see what’s going on live, you can check out the camera’s view at any time on your iPod, iPhone, or iPad, via iZon’s app.  

One of the best things about this new gadget is its cost. At $129, how else are you going to get this much security? And that’s not to mention all the other things you could do with an iZon. I can imagine using it as a real-time trail cam, to keep an eye on the truck and trailer back at the boat ramp, and… well, just think about all the possibilities.

No, an iZon won’t stop a thief in his tracks. But it will let you know when his tracks lead to your boat – and when it’s time for you to get old friends like Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson into the act. Then you can let them do the talking for you, and end your boat theft problems for good.
