There is a fish attractant out there called Spike-It to dye your soft plastics a different colors, or dip the tail off the bass worm and turn it chartreuse. Well, it was a rainy day today, so I was messing with the Bass gear in the garage burning time. Well, a bottle of Spike-It fell out of my tackle box and rolled under the live minnow tank. I like to have a permanent stock of minnows on hand so I am ready at all times to go straight to the lake. As I picked up the bottle of Spike-It, and looked at the minnows, I had an idea.

I took the fist subject minnow and dipped it head first in the Spike-It.

Sadly, the above subject minnow did not make it and is now R.I.P in the mulch garden. The Spike it didn’t agree with his gills and killed it. I figured it would but had to try. So, I grabbed another minnow and dipped everything but his head, below his gill plates. I put him back in the minnow tank and he has been swimming around for an hour now. I even fed them and he ate some flakes and acted like nothing ever happened. Hes still bright chartreuse and smells like garlic. I’m sure all of of the colors would work…… kinda neat but crazy too. Cant wait to try it out. That stuff will stain anything so be careful with it. Let me know how ya’ll do if you try it. On a slow day it might make the difference. Who knows.

I’m calling P.E.T.H.I.M.! That’s the People for the Ethical Treatment of Harmless, Innocent Minnows! They will boycott you and all your products!
Seriously though, that is cool!
I wonder if food grade coloring, put in a small dish of water with minnows, would make them turn colors like celery draws up food coloring. Hmmmmm. MORE MINNOW EXPERIMENTS! Goal?
NEON PURPLE MINNOWS!
Funny thing is, he is still alive. Its not as yellow anymore, but still alive!
