The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) commission is proposing to establish the, “JFK Causeway State Scientific Area”.
According to TPWD, this site was chosen “..as it contains more than 14,000 acres of extensive shallow seagrass flats that would benefit from protection, and receives heavy use from boaters and anglers. The discussion at this point is to propose a rule in January 2012 that would create a regulation within this area, identical to the Redfish Bay State Scientific Area, allowing for motors to be used as long as they do not uproot seagrass from the bay bottom.”
What do you think about closures to protect seagrass? For or against?
