Little pond, big bass and Skeet Reese

A few months ago, I got an early sample package of Berkley’s Havoc lures to test out.

The next day I was driving back from a fishing trip and decided to stop by a tiny roadside pond I saw someone fishing the week previous. I tied on the Skeet Reese Havoc Slop Craw, cast into the diminutive water body and my rod doubled over. I was fighting a big bass!

That fish spit the hook before I could lip it but the next cast I caught an even bigger fish. It is the one pictured here. It was stunning to catch such a big fish in a small, unmanaged pond but it helped inspire an ongoing project I am going with my F.L.E.X. Fishing (R) system.

The author with his big bass caught on the Berkely Havoc Slop Craw.

Cool stuff, huh?

The author got to interview Skeet Reese at ICAST about his Havoc lures and he got to share his success using the Slop Craw, a lure designed to rig for "punching" through heavy vegetation.
