So Lisa, Faith and I were out eating last night with our discipleship group from church.
The waiter comes over and starts talking with our friends at the end of the table and I hear, “I got one that was 8 lbs, 13 ozs and the other was just over 8 lbs.”
My ears perk up and I immediately start thinking, “I wonder if he caught those on Rayburn or Toledo Bend. Maybe Conroe.”
Then I realized he is talking about his children’s birth weight since he is looking at Eric and Trisha Swanson’s baby girl Gracie.
I share my thoughts with Lisa and our friend Tracy Ellis.
“Good thing I didn’t ask him what lake he caught them on.”
To which Tracy said, “Or ask if he threw them back in the lake.”
Lisa, always the commentator in such situations said, “Or ask if he ate them or not.”
Laughter erupted around us as I thought, “At least I didn’t ask if he got those in the spawn.”
That would have been really bad.
I guess all of the bass fishing I have done this year has gotten to me a bit.
The author had bass or flounder on his mind all year.
