I have been writing a lot about snakes here lately, partly because I think they are fascinating but also because the response has been tremendous.
I was doing a photo shoot for a new project with my friend Rob Ellis last weekend. I caught a huge yellowbelly water snake and as I posed it for the shot it lunged at my face. Rob caught me jerking the snake out of the way.
The ornery reptile was released unharmed and I didn’t get bit, but we did manage to get a cool (and unexpected) shot.
BTW, no snake from the top side looks more like a cottonmouth and no snake I have ever dealt with is meaner.
These critters have attitude!
