How would you like to sit down against a big oak for a nice evening of squirrel hunting and see this monster next to you?
I stopped at the Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin yesterday on my way to Nacogdoches for an awards banquet and was blown away by this huge cottonmouth.
It was close to four feet long and at its thickest point wider than a coke can. I have seen hundreds of these snakes and a few big ones but nothing like this beast.
An interesting note is how beautifully marked the coat is when the snakes lives in a clean environment in captivity as compared to the swamps of East Texas.
