The Texas Fish & Game staff visited the Shooting, Hunting & Outdoor Trades (SHOT) Show last week in Las Vegas.
SHOT features thousands of vendors debuting their latest products to buyers and the media. It is a great place to get a sneak peek on new products and you will be seeing dozens of videos from the SHOT floor featuring with me, TF&G Bowhunting Editor Lou Marullo and TF&G blogger Dustin Ellermann interviewing industry experts.
Beginning today I would like to take a look at my favorite products of the show with an item apiece for the next several days. Not all of these are new for 2012 but they are new to me and have hit the market only very recently.
First up, is what was in my opinion the most interesting item of the show: The Eliminator from Burris Optics.
This scope features a built-in laser rangefinder and a unique system featuring drop names for various ammuntion. All the hunter has to do is enter one of the 123 drop numbers into the Eliminator. In a split second, it factors in the distance, the angle of the shot, and the ballistics of your cartridge or load, and presents a lighted dot for the perfect holdover. According to Burris, all you have to do is provide a ‘drop number’ for more than 1,900 commercial cartridges. With your drop number established, you decide if you need or prefer to sight-in at 50, 100 or 200 yards.
Cool!
