Residents in Orange County have been happy to get to observe a beaver family that took up residence in a canal right off a main road. I had the great pleasure of going by and photographing one of them at a very close distance and was amazed just how long I was able to photograph the animal.
A couple of days after I photographed the beaver, I returned to find that someone had shot the animal and left it floating in the ditch.
Poaching is the curse of East Texas and this is the kind of thing that is already getting hunters bad PR in my area. A real hunter would never do anything of the sort and leave an animal causing no harm to rot in public view but the public sees any action with a gun in a rural area as done by hunters.
