As part of the Southern Panther search project my partner Terri Were and I are conducting we have collected dozens of videos and photos of bobcats from the field as well as cougars from several hunters in the East Texas region.
We had a cat get super close to the camera in this clip and cannot tell what it is.
Is it domestic? Bobcat? Something Else?

The shape of the head and ears says domestic short hair to me. I’ve seen bobcats in my game cams, and there’s one pic that I still swear is a cougar, but it is debatable.
It looks like a Domestic Short hair to me, possibly feral. I was raised where hunting and trapping Bobcats was common, and we even had a semi-tame Bobcat tom which more or less lived with us for several years, so I have seen many of them, and this cat’s head just doesn’t look right to me to be a Bobcat or Lynx. Since there is no other objest in the video to compare its size to, this is a guess at best, but it still looks like a Domestic Shorthair to me. Please let me know if you find out what it definitely is.
