The sauger is a game fish in Texas.
That means it is supposed to be protected from commercial harvest along with largemouth bass, redfish, speckled trout and a host of other species.
The flounder however is not. (That’s another blog entirely.)
A sauger is an obscure walleye relative that as far as I know is only present in Lake Meredith.
Why gamefish status when fish like flounder do not receive same designation?
