Checking in from a great trip to Sabine Parish just across the Sabine River/Toledo Bend from the Texas line.
My family has been staying at beautiful Cypress Bend Resort located on the lake and I had the pleasure of fishing with Jerry Thompson of Living the Dream Guide Service.
Our target was crappie, called “sac-a-lait” on this side of the river and the pictures here speak for themselves.

The author was field tesing the Pflueger Supreme Reel and Fenwick HMG rod and found it worked great for pulling big slabs out of the brush.
The big fish of the day was this monster white caught by the author early in the day. The fish were super finicky with their bites, often lightly tapping the shiners.
Hall of Fame bass pro Judy Wong resides in Sabine Parish. We ran into Judy fishing with her grandchildren on the way in and stopped by to say hello. Here Dylon, five, and Jordon, two, pose with two big slabs.
I had a great time staying in Sabine Parish and found Thompson to be a true pleasure to fish with. I look forward to coming back and catching more slabs and maybe getting in on some T-Bend bass action.
