If your trip to the hunting lease takes you anywhere close to San Antonio I recommend you take a short detour and cruise over to Castroville, just outside of San Antonio to stop off at Dziuk’s Smokehouse.
The place is super clean , which is a plus in my book. When you first walk in you see the counters stuffed with smoked delicacies such as dried beef, jerky, sausage and pork tenderloin. These guys know their trade , and it really comes through in the quality and flavor of the products. I met Marvin, the owner and some of his family last year while exhibiting at a hunting show in San Antonio. I had the opportunity to taste some of their venison jerky and dried sausages and I will tell you that I have worked with venison for years and have bought it in many places but none better than what they have here.
They also process deer, and I would definitely recommend you consider them for the next time you want to have your deer processed, and be sure and take a look at their quail too. It is absolutely awesome!

You got that right! Dziuk’s is the best I have ever seen. Their jerky and their hot links are heavenly. I try to stop every time I got through Castroville on the way to San Antonio. I’m just glad I don’t live in Castroville, because I would be spending all my gun money on sausage.
One thing though, you didn’t mention how to pronounce their name. I could be wrong, and often am, but isn’t it pronounced “jukes,” like the old music boxes?
I checked with the folks at Dziuk’s this morning to confirm the proper way to pronounce their name, and it is pronounced “Jukes” just as you thought. Thanks for your reply, we appreciate getting the feedback!
